a perfect day to read outside

I decided to delight in the day and sat outside reading my book. The picture to the right is from my backyard. My potted flower garden has seen better days. The August heat and downpours from last week took care of that. But it still felt wonderful sitting out there, leaning back in my chair with my feet up on my stoop.

I must've been still for a long time, because a little chipmunk came running under my legs and hopped up on the step. I don't know who jumped more, me or him, when we noticed each other.
