Big to a Little - Part 2

(continued...)

The one time that really sticks out in my mind was when I decided to take her, Christine's brother and my eldest nephew tubing on the Delaware (this not using real names is more of a pain than I thought it would be...lol). I was imagining a relaxing, leisurely float down the river. What I got were heavy currents that forced us into two small boats, me and my Little in one, my two nephews in the other.

I should tell you, something seems to take over my body when a boat or canoe on a body of water come into play. Fear of drowning perhaps, but this only happens when I'm in a boat or canoe. I think it's more the sense of loss of control that does it.

Whatever the reason, my control issues came out in full-force that day, which weren't helped along by the fact that my nephews chose to steer their boat down the right side of an island, while my Little and I went down the left side. I just knew they were gonna drown and that my sisters were gonna kill me. I kept scream across the island to them, hoping they would respond so that I knew they weren't dead. My Little was finding my predicament very amusing...I wanted to hit her with the oar.

By the time we all reached our final destination, the three of them were having a lot of laughs at my expense. They're lucky I didn't leave them behind, the little sh**s. Actually, I didn't mind them finding me amusing, as I know I get a bit irrational in that kind of situation. I deserved not to be taken seriously, even if I was the only adult in the bunch.

I must of really been removed from the family because I don't remember you going on a canoe ride with my nephews and almost drowning them. I am surprised that they allowed you to every take their kids again.

Who said I almost drowned them??? That was just me freaking out. They were fine. At least, that's what they told me afterwards. Just ask 'em :)
